BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

Quality and teamwork are essential elements of the Caterpillar philosophy and are important to this positions effectiveness. -Primary functions of this position are: 1) to participate in and support NPI process; 2) to facilitate/nurture CPPD environment within teams, stimulating brainstorming, free and open thinking, helping to select appropriate team members, ensuring project is completed on time and within cost targets; 3) to ensure the make/buy decision and process selection is accomplished during the initial stages of development. -Incumbent applies knowledge of a broad range of manufacturing processes to achieve cost effective products. Individually or as part of a team, identifies and explores alternatives design, processing and material options during the NPI process. Identifies appropriate resource people and ensures their active team participation. -Communicates worldwide with internal and external engineers, manufacturers, purchasing counterparts, accounting personnel and suppliers to provide input and participate in decisions pertaining to cost effective sourcing and procurement planning.
-Communicates pending activities to internal and external customers impacting them or their areas. Answers purchasing and related questions from internal and external customers.
-Incumbent must develop and maintain active team participation and constructive communication. A continuing challenge is to foster the idea of concurrency in product and process design and the necessity of selecting the proper supplier of materials in the early stages of NPI in order to make best sourcing and cost effective decisions.
-Explore the application and implementation of new processes/technologies. -The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
-Typical internal customers include the employees in one Division. External customers include two to ten Dealers and their customers. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent is free to determine the best way to complete job assignments in order to achieve desired results. Work is reviewed after completion, except in the most complex or high impact situations. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, Part Quality, Internal Quality Certification, Office Certification, etc. The position serves as an advisor/consultant to assist groups with quality improvements in the measure(s) stated. -Moderate travel required (5% -15% of working time).

ELIGIBILITY:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in engine Engineering or an equivalent level of work experience.
5+ years of professional level experience.
Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
Should have project management skills, team leadership skills, and good communication skills.
Should have knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly, i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations.
Must have the ability to learn and do statistical analysis and have basic computer skills.
The good command of English is desirable
