Qualifications
equires experience with commercial software packages, i.e. spreadsheets, word processors, data bases, computer aided drafting; the ability to get things done through other people - teams, suppliers, other company departments, peers; and interest in/commitment to distribution operations. An Engineering degree, or a degree specifically related to distribution operations (Material Handling, Logistics, etc.) is highly desirable but not required in all cases.
Fluent English is required.

Responsibilities
This is the entry level job of a family of three positions that do related work. The levels in this family are differentiated by value of projects, complexity of work, and the degree of supervision received by the incumbent. This is a multi-incumbent position with each incumbent performing a portion of, but usually not all of the following:

Assists in investigating alternative storeroom layouts and processes to provide new capacity, and to improve material flow and productivity of existing facilities. Assists in carrying out approved recommendations.

Assists in writing and following up on capital projects, purchase requisition, special work orders, miscellaneous interplant transfers, surplus equipment dispositions, and a variety of other documents to procure equipment and services. Occasionally travels to suppliers and other facilities for information and consultation.

Uses spreadsheet software to perform analysis of data. Presents results using this and other software. Seeks and secures management approval for proposed projects. Assists in producing lists, cards, and files to be used in carrying out approved recommendations. Occasional travel involved.

Assists in writing and maintaining computer rules that control the location of incoming material. Resolves grief that occurs in the locating process. Instructs supervision and hourly people in the use of the locating process.
