Job_description_responsibilities:
This position is in Caterpillar R&D Center (China), Wuxi, China, as a senior engineer/technical expert of engine installation and cooling for heavy construction or mining machines, including wheel loaders, motor graders, track-type-tractor, and other Caterpillar products manufactured in China.
The incumbent will provide program leadership and technical expertise for the concept, design and development of engine installation and cooling, including muffler, air cleaner, air line, alternator guard, heat shield, and cooling package mounting.
The incumbent will utilize the methodology of 6 Sigma and project management to manage a high volume of NPI, CPI, and maintenance activity on past, current and future product generations.
The incumbent is accountable for meeting time, cost and quality target of the design that he/she is responsible for.
These tasks include (not limited to) follows aspects:
Create and maintain system level functional and technical specifications and cost targets.
Communicate system performance requirements to component and system design personnel within Caterpillar, with suppliers and with technical support agencies.
Set validation criteria.
Define and oversee test/validation plans.
Provide technical expertise toward the resolution of shop and field problems.
Create and maintain project management / resource management plans utilizing sound project management principles.
Coach and lead junior engineers.
Required_skills_qualifications:
A Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
7-10 years experience in Machine/Component Product group or equivalent experience.
Highly knowledgeable in engine installation and cooling system & component design, integration, testing & validation.
Very knowledgeable in machine system integration and problem solving ability. Strong leadership & project management skills, ability to lead and interact with a diverse workforce.
Proven analytical and problem solving skills.
Concurrent Product and Process Design & New Product Introduction experience.
Excellent interpersonal, written & oral communication skills to effectively collaborate with a Worldwide team.
Previous experience with related systems engineering field, working in a CPPD team environment.
Manufacturing, assembly and fabrication process acumen.
Prior experience with Pro-E design, VisView, FEA, bolted joints, light fabrication, FMEA’s, etc.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
